ERYTHRINA

Collection of the artist.
oil on board 195 x 245 mm
1985

Description
‘ERYTHRINA’ is the first art work in the ‘ALETHEA’ series and done directly after the birth of the artists last child, Gabriella, in 1986. There is a marked paradigm shift in her approach and technique, with the advent of the layering of images, as well as that of pronounced symbolism and multiple interpretations. The surface has a mild texture to create ‘tooth’ and is also a deliberate but subtle attempt to reconcile or integrate the present moment with the past, as well as the acceptance of our in-evitable decay.’
